Power Flushing
|
What is Power Flushing?
- Power flushing uses an external pump that is connected
to your central heating system, this pump is capable of
removing the debris buildup that is stopping your system
from running efficiently.
|

|
Why do I need to power flush my system?
- During the course of normal operation, your central
heating system will corrode and cause a build up of
sludge in the system. This sludge can stop the flow of
heating water reaching your radiators, it may also lead
to a costly break down of your boiler. It is also a
requirement to flush any existing central heating system
when a new boiler is being installed, power flushing is
the most effective way of flushing a system. Failure to
do this may invalidate any boiler warranty.
|
How does power flushing work? - Power
flushing uses a combination of chemicals, magnets and
pressure to clean all the internal components of your
central heating system restoring efficiency.
|
How long will it take?
- Power flushing is not a ten minute job, some companies
suggest power flushing can be done in as little as 2
hours, in our experience it will take 4-5 hours based on
a standard 7-8 radiator system to effectively clean and
will require an initial vist to assess your system and
add chemicals.
|
Power flushing does not require
any qualifications, there are no restrictions for DIY
flushing, however there are risks involved and a full
assessment should be carried out by an experienced
heating engineer prior to flushing. An open vented
system should be approached differently to a sealed
system, is there a suitable water supply available? Are
the radiator valves in good condition? Is there any
signs of corrosion on the radiators? Power flushing
involves using a large volume of water, if obvious
weaknesses have been overlooked, due to inexperience,
severe water damage may occur. Coventry heating only use
experienced engineers with the expertise required to
clean your system.
